The highly anticipated Early Bird Rights hearing between the NBA players association and the league took place Wednesday and lasted about 3½ hours at the NBA counsel office, but no decision was made.

A union representative told ESPN New York that the arbitrator, Kenneth Dam, will decide before July 1, the start of free agency, but has “no idea how soon.”

The only other people present in the meeting were lawyers for both the NBA and NBPA, as well as Knicks forward Steve Novak, who made a surprise appearance to testify.
