The Knicks are seeking their fourth consecutive victory on Wednesday night in Charlotte. If they win, they’ll move into the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference (Miami is idle).

Here are some halftime observations:

CONTROLLING THE PAINT: Tyson Chandler dominated inside in the first quarter, scoring eight points on 4-for-4 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds (four offensive). Those offensive boards were particularly important, because his teammates got off to a bad start from behind the arc, going just 3-for-9 from 3-point range in the opening period, the Knicks ended up going just 7-for-19 from deep in the first half.

So Spencer Percy of fellow TrueHoop joint Queen City Hoops was kind enough to lend me a mic for a series of three questions on tonight’s tilt in Charlotte: 1- STATS: 16 games into the season, the Knicks have the most efficient offense in the NBA with a rating of 111.3. The Bobcats have slowly [...]

It’s the game before The Game.

The Knicks will visit an improved Charlotte Bobcats team Wednesday night, a day before their showdown Thursday in Miami against the Heat.

Here are a few things to watch:

HOW SHARP ARE FELTON AND KIDD? Raymond Felton will play through pain on Wednesday. The Knicks’ starting point guard suffered a bone bruise and contusion in the lower portion of his left hand and will play with added padding on his left thumb and palm.

Every weekday throughout the season, ESPNNewYork.com will tackle a burning question about the Knicks in our “Opening Tip” segment.

Today’s Burning Question: How wide is the gap between the Knicks and Heat?

“Take it one game at a time” is one of the most frequently-used cliches in sports.

Knicks coach Mike Woodson has used it again and again in the past couple days whenever someone asks him about Thursday’s game against the Miami Heat.

He insists that his team isn’t thinking about Miami yet, that it’s focused on Wednesday’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Amar’e Stoudemire went through shooting and conditioning drills on Tuesday before the Knicks flew to Charlotte for their game against the Bobcats.

After the workout — one of several he’s gone through in recent days — Stoudemire wrote on Twitter that he’d “be back soon.”

Just when that is, of course, is unclear at the moment.

According to a source who spoke with ESPNNewYork’s Jared Zwerling, Stoudemire is targeting a return somewhere near Christmas Day.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton will play on Wednesday against the Charlotte Bobcats despite suffering a bone bruise and contusion in his left hand.

“It’s going to be tough, but I’m going to play,” said Felton.

The Knicks are also optimistic that Jason Kidd (back spasms) will return from a four-game absence. Kidd says he’ll play against the Bobcats but might not start.

Knicks coach Mike Woodson called Kidd “probable” and wants to see how the 39-year-old feels on Wednesday morning, presumably after the morning shootaround in Charlotte.

The past year-and-a-half didn’t flow as well as Carmelo Anthony would’ve hoped. He was traded to the Knicks halfway through the 2010-11 season and had to adjust on the fly, and then faced a shortened schedule in 2011-12, which featured ups and downs and a head coaching change.

That’s why for Anthony and his teammates, the most popular word around town these days is “focused.” The Knicks star discussed that when Spike Lee interviewed him on Monday night at the Air Jordan XX8 launch event in New York City.
